The U35-4 is the 3.5 ton class minimum tail swing entry in Kubota's current 4 Series mini excavator lineup. It replaced the legacy U35-3 from this size class with Tier 4 Final emissions compliance via the D1803-CR common rail engine, refreshed RD451 generation cab and operator station, and updated hydraulic auxiliary plumbing. The minimum tail swing design makes the U35-4 a popular choice for residential, municipal, and tight-quarters utility work where a conventional tail swing 3-ton machine cannot fit.

Many U35-4 service parts cross to the U55-4 (the 5 ton minimum tail swing sibling in the same 4 Series lineup) because Kubota engineered the 4 Series minimum tail swing line with shared cab, electrical, and hydraulic plumbing across the size range. The U35-4 also shares some service parts with the KX040-4 conventional tail swing 4 ton sibling because both use the V2607-derived emissions architecture.
