Bearings are defined by bore, outside diameter, width, and load rating, and the OEM part number encodes all four, which makes it the only reliable way to order one. Left and right callouts matter on this category more than most. Some bearing positions are handed, and a mirrored part will seat but wear wrong, so read the side designation on the listing before ordering a pair.

Types of Replacement Bearings

Wheel hub bearing assemblies come as a sealed unit and replace as one piece, which is the practical choice since pressing individual races on a worn hub rarely restores the original fit. Roller bearings carry radial load at pivots and drive positions. Ball joints and joint balls handle articulating connections where the load changes direction under use. Wear rings and bushings sit alongside bearings in the same rebuilds and are often ordered together.

Growling that changes with ground speed, play at the wheel, and heat at a hub after a work cycle are the field signs. Replacing a bearing without also replacing its seal usually shortens the new bearing's life, since contamination is what killed the old one.
