Sensor and Sender Fitment and Compatibility

A sensor reports a value continuously where a switch simply opens or closes, and that difference decides which part you need when a gauge reads wrong versus when a light comes on. Common replacements include the hydraulic oil pressure sensor replacing OEM 6661518, the coolant temperature sensor replacing OEM 7230463, the fuel sensors replacing OEM 7020972 and 7287030, the DEF sensor replacing OEM 7337690, the mass air flow sensor tube replacing OEM 7234971, the hand control sensor replacing OEM 6684910, the wheel positioner sensor replacing OEM 6682340, the door latch sensor replacing OEM 6728459, the magnetic sensor replacing OEM 7387009, the lockout sensor replacing OEM 6680427, and the lockout magnet replacing OEM 6680428.

Safety interlock sensors deserve to be read before anything else on this page. A machine that cranks and runs but will not drive, lift, or operate an attachment has very often lost an interlock rather than developed a hydraulic fault. The seat, the seat bar, and the door position all feed that circuit, and the repair is usually a sensor or its magnet rather than anything expensive.

Types of Replacement Sensors and Senders

Pressure and temperature sensors feed gauges, warning lights, and engine control, and they are what the machine uses to protect itself. Level and position senders report fuel level, wheel position, and control position.

Interlock and safety sensors detect the seat, seat bar, door latch, and control lockout. Note that the lockout sensor and the lockout magnet are two separate parts. The magnet is mounted on the moving component and the sensor reads it, so a magnet that has worked loose or fallen off produces exactly the same symptom as a dead sensor, at a fraction of the cost. Check for the magnet before ordering the sensor.

Emissions sensors including DEF and air flow components appear on Tier 4 machines and are configuration-specific, so confirm the machine's emissions setup rather than the model number alone when ordering these.
