The V2003 is the entry 4 cylinder engine in Kubota's 03-M Series direct injection lineup, sitting above the 3 cylinder D1703 in cylinder count but below the V2203 / V2403 in displacement. Where the 03-M Series is defined by direct injection architecture (vs the indirect injection of the 05 Series), the V2003 specifically targets OEM applications where 4 cylinder smoothness is the requirement but the higher displacement V2203 / V2403 would be oversized for the equipment chassis. The V2003-M-E3B is the standard Tier 3 mechanical injection variant, with the V2003-M-T-E2B turbocharged variant offering more power in the same package and the V2003-M-E3-BG2 / V2003-T-E2-BG generator package variants serving stationary power applications.
Common applications for the V2003 include the Kubota R420 / R420S compact wheel loaders, several legacy Kubota construction machines, and OEM industrial applications across compact wheel loaders from manufacturers other than Kubota, smaller skid steer loaders, ground support equipment, and a number of standby generator packages.
Air intake service uses Air Filter RD401-42270, the same canister filter used on the V2203 in the same 03-M Series chassis (the canister housing is shared across V2003 and V2203 OEM installations because the air cleaner mounting pattern is common to both engines).
Fuel system service uses In Line Fuel Filter 1258143011 and the 12581-43012 alternate revision for the standard mechanical injection fuel system. Fuel Filter 15831-43380 covers later production V2003 installations with the Tier 4 fuel system update. The V2003-M-T-E2B turbocharged variant uses the same fuel system architecture as the naturally aspirated V2003-M-E3B but with a higher capacity fuel injection pump for the higher rated power output.
Cooling and electrical service hardware (Thermostat Assembly 1A021-73012, Solenoid 1A021-60013) cover the routine support system service on the V2003. The thermostat assembly is shared with the larger V2203 / V2403 in the same 03-M family because the cooling system architecture is consistent across the family. Smaller assembly hardware (Oil Gauge Plug 1G513-36550, Guide Oil Gauge 17456-36420) is typically batched into a service order alongside larger components.
