The F Series front mount mowers are Kubota's professional grade out front diesel mowers. They are distinct from the company's residential lawn tractor and zero turn lineups in three ways: the deck is mounted at the front rather than mid mount or rear, the engine is a Kubota three cylinder diesel rather than gasoline, and the chassis is built for daily commercial duty cycles. The F2560E ran from 1997 to 2005 with the 25 horsepower 1.122 liter three cylinder Kubota diesel and was offered with both 60 inch and 72 inch front mount decks. The F2680E succeeded the F2560 in 2008 and ran through 2013, also offered with 60 inch or 72 inch decks at 25.5 horsepower from a 1.124 liter Kubota three cylinder diesel. The F2880 and F2880E generations sat above those at 28 horsepower.
Because all of the F Series machines covered here use the same family of small Kubota three cylinder diesels, many engine service parts (engine oil filter, fuel filter, primary air filter) cross between F2560E, F2680E, F2880, and F2880-F. Deck specific service parts like blades, spindle bearings, drive belts, and deck pulleys are dimension specific (60 inch decks vs 72 inch decks have different blade spindles and belts), so confirm your deck size against the part number on the listing. Hour meter readings drive most of the service intervals on the F Series, and the standard Kubota service practice is engine oil + filter at 50 hours, fuel filter at 200 hours, and air filter on visual inspection or 400 hours, whichever comes first.

Engine internal hardware (studs, gear rings, oil gauge plugs) is also a meaningful category because the F Series engines are old enough that operators are starting to do top end work on the higher hour units. Deck and drive components (blades, belts, bearings) are searched by deck size, with the most common F Series setups being 60 inch and 72 inch.
