The KX080-4 is the 8 ton class flagship in Kubota's current 4 Series mini excavator lineup, the largest conventional tail swing excavator Kubota builds. It replaced the legacy KX080-3 from this size class with Tier 4 Final emissions compliance via the V2607-CR-E4 common rail engine, refreshed RD451 generation cab and operator station, and updated hydraulic auxiliary line plumbing. The KX080-4S and KX080-4S2 designations cover spec-tier variants of the same physical machine: the S variant adds factory options including angle blade and high-flow auxiliary hydraulics, the S2 variant carries additional refresh items introduced mid-production. All three variants share the chassis, drivetrain, V2607-CR-E4 engine, and hydraulic main pump.

Many KX080-4 service parts cross to the KX057-4 (the 5 ton conventional tail swing sibling) and to the U55-4 (the 5 ton minimum tail swing sibling) because Kubota engineered the 4 Series on a shared parts platform with engine and main hydraulic pump common across the machines and chassis size as the primary variable. Cab glass on the KX080-4 cabin variants uses the RD451 series dimensions, which is unique to the 4 Series cab generation.
