Fasteners on equipment are engineered parts, not generic hardware, and the OEM number carries diameter, length, thread pitch, head style, and material grade in one reference. Common replacements include the stud replacing OEM 7251267, the socket head bolt replacing OEM 7255136, the shoulder bolt replacing OEM 6728473, the hexagon flange screw replacing OEM 26GM10020, the stud and nut kit replacing OEM BCWK, and the bolts replacing OEM 7105983, 17C660, and 17C10112.

Many of these carry short OEM numbers that read like codes rather than conventional part numbers. Order from the number shown in the parts diagram for your machine. Measuring a fastener that has already stretched, corroded, or been replaced once with the wrong item is how the wrong size gets ordered twice.

Types of Replacement Bolts, Screws, and Studs

Shoulder bolts are the group most often misunderstood. The smooth shoulder is a bearing surface that a linkage or roller turns on, and the thread exists only to retain it. Substituting a fully threaded bolt of the same nominal diameter puts a moving part on a thread, which chews itself out and takes the mating hole with it.

Structural and machine bolts carry rated loads, and material grade is what makes them capable of it. A visually identical fastener of a lower grade will thread in, torque up, and then fail under a load the original handled. Studs and stud kits are used where a joint is opened repeatedly, since a stud protects the threads in the casting from wear each time. Flange screws spread clamp load without a separate washer and are common where sheet metal or castings would otherwise dimple.
