The M Series sits above the L Series compact tractors in Kubota's lineup, with larger frames, higher horsepower engines, and heavier duty drivetrains aimed at full size farm and ranch work, hay operations, larger property maintenance, and commercial mowing front loader work. The M5140 ran from 2010 to 2013 with a 52 horsepower 2.4 liter four cylinder Kubota diesel and was offered in both two wheel and four wheel drive configurations. ROPS and cab variants of the M5140 were available, with the cab unit using climate controlled HVAC.

The current M60 Series replaced the older M Series machines and uses Kubota's 4 cylinder common rail direct injection diesel engines. The M5660 SU produces 56 horsepower (50 PTO horsepower), the M6060 produces 63.5 horsepower (56 PTO horsepower), and the M7060 produces 71 horsepower (64 PTO horsepower). All three M60 models share a common chassis and many service parts, with the M5660 using an F8 / R8 fully synchronized 8 speed transmission and the M6060 / M7060 using an F12 / R12 12 speed configuration. Because the M60 Series uses a single chassis platform with engine displacement as the primary variant, filter and cooling system service parts cross between models far more often than they would across different size classes.
