Wisconsin Engine Fitment and Compatibility

Wisconsin air-cooled gasoline engines powered a generation of compact equipment, including older New Holland skid steers, Ford industrial tractors and machines from Bobcat, Mustang, Gehl and Vermeer. Many of these machines are still working, and the engines covered here are the VH4D, VG4D, V460D and V465D V4 engines along with the two cylinder TJD.

Because these engines were fitted by many equipment makers, the same Wisconsin engine can need the same filters in machines from different brands. The engine model and serial number are on the plate on the engine shroud. Check them against the engines listed on each product page, and contact our team with your engine details if you are unsure.

Types of Replacement Filters for Wisconsin Engines

Fuel filters make up most of this range. Wisconsin engines use a carburetor fed through an in-line fuel filter or a sediment bowl, and an old or clogged fuel filter is a common cause of hard starting and surging on these engines. Common replacements include the fuel filter cartridge that replaces New Holland 83937061.

Air filters complete the set. Air-cooled engines depend on clean intake air and clean cooling fins, so the air filter should be checked often on machines that work in dust. The outer air filter that replaces Bobcat 6646494 is a common replacement for Wisconsin powered machines.
