Pivot Pin Fitment and Compatibility

Pivot pins carry the lift arms, linkages, and attachment mountings, which makes them among the highest-loaded parts on the machine and the ones where a close-enough substitute shows up soonest. Common replacements include the pivot pins replacing OEM 6577954, 6534667, 7175270, 7198542, and 7353148, the tapered pivot pins replacing OEM 7101078 and 7170609, the clamp pivot pin replacing OEM 7157744, and the X-Change pivot pin replacing OEM 7181216.

Tapered pins are not interchangeable with straight pins of the same nominal diameter. A tapered pin is drawn into a matching tapered bore by its retaining hardware so that it locks solid with no clearance at all. Fitting a straight pin into that bore leaves it free to move, and the movement wears the bore into a shape that no pin will fit properly afterwards.

Types of Replacement Pivot Pins

Lift arm and linkage pins carry load through the boom, the tilt linkage, and the cylinder ends. They wear on the underside where the load sits, so a pin can measure correct on top and be visibly flattened where it matters.

Tapered and clamp pins lock into their bores rather than floating in them, and they are used where any play at all would be unacceptable. Attachment pins including X-Change pins carry the mounting interface where implements connect and are exposed to the most dirt and impact of any pin on the machine.

Pins and bushings wear as a pair. A new pin dropped into a bushing that has already gone oval gives back most of the slop within hours, and the load now bears on a small contact patch that wears the new pin faster than the old one went. Replace both, and check the bore itself before ordering either.
