John Deere Engine Fitment and Compatibility

John Deere diesel engines power John Deere's own tractors, backhoes and loaders, and Deere supplies engines to other manufacturers as well, so the same engine can turn up in a Hyster forklift, a Takeuchi machine or older Allis-Chalmers equipment. The engine families covered here include the 3029, 4045 and 6068 series along with older engines such as the 3179D.

The engine serial number plate on the side of the block carries the full engine model, including the letters and numbers after the base model that identify the version. Different versions of the same base engine can use different filters, so check the full engine model against the list on each product page, or contact our team with your engine serial number.

Types of Replacement Filters for John Deere Engines

Air filters make up most of this range. Many John Deere applications use a primary element with an inner safety element, and the primary element is the one replaced on a routine schedule. Common replacements include the primary air filter that replaces John Deere M131802 and the air filter that replaces John Deere AN153119.

Fuel filters and engine oil filters complete the service set. Modern Deere diesels use high pressure fuel systems that depend on clean fuel, so fuel filters should be replaced on schedule along with any water separator. The fuel filter cartridge that replaces John Deere AT13387 is a common replacement.
