Kubota Oil Filter Cross Reference and Fitment Guide - PartsOnline

Kubota's own oil filter selection guide maps 50 diesel engine models to just six genuine filter numbers, and it sorts them by engine, not by tractor. Find the engine model on your machine and the cross reference gets short: HH150-32430 for Super Mini engines like the D722, HH150-32094 for 70 mm stroke engines, and HH164-32430 for the 02 and 03 series.

At a Glance

  • Kubota lists oil filters by engine model. The tractor, mower or loader model alone does not tell you the filter.
  • HH164-32430 covers the most engines: the whole 02 and 03 series (D1703, V2203, V2403 and more) plus the V2607.
  • HH150-32094 is the 70 mm stroke filter for engines such as the D850, D950 and V1200. It is not listed for any 03-series engine.
  • Kubota L2501: its D1703 engine pairs with HH164-32430, and its manual sets a 400-hour oil and filter interval.
  • Always confirm: Kubota says the guide covers standard-spec engines and points owners to the Illustrated Parts List for their machine.

Which Oil Filter Does My Kubota Engine Use?

Kubota Engine America publishes an Oil Filter Selection Guide for its industrial diesel engines. Every engine in a series shares one genuine filter number, so the whole cross reference fits in one table.

The guide carries one caveat worth reading twice: the numbers are for standard-spec engines, and Kubota tells owners to confirm the filter with the Illustrated Parts List. Kubota does not list the exceptions, so treat the table as the starting point and the parts list for your serial number as the final word.

How Do I Find My Kubota Engine Model?

The engine model is printed in the specifications table of your operator's manual and on the engine itself. These examples come straight from Kubota's documents:

  • L2501 compact tractor: D1703-M-DI-E4, per Kubota's L2501 specification sheet
  • BX23S tractor loader backhoe: D902, per the BX23S Operator's Manual
  • B2301 and B2601: D1005-E4 and D1105-E4, per their shared Operator's Manual

The table above uses the base model, so a D1105-E4-D32 reads as a D1105. You will also want the machine's serial number for the parts-list check, and our guide on how to find the serial number on your Kubota equipment shows where the plates sit on skid steers, track loaders and mini excavators.

What Oil Filter Does a Kubota L2501 Take?

The L2501 runs a Kubota D1703-M-DI-E4, a three-cylinder diesel rated at 24.8 gross hp in Kubota's specification sheet. The D1703 belongs to the 03 series, and Kubota's selection guide pairs every 03-series engine with HH164-32430.

  • Engine: D1703-M-DI-E4
  • Kubota oil filter: HH164-32430 (03 series, standard spec)
  • Oil and filter change: every 400 hours, with the first service after 50 hours, per the L2501 Operator's Manual
  • Oil capacity with filter: 6.0 US quarts (5.7 L)

Some aftermarket lookups list HH150-32094 for the L2501. Kubota's guide assigns that number to 70 mm stroke engines such as the D850 and V1200, not to the D1703, so check before you order. Our engine oil filter replacing Kubota HH164-32430 lists D1703 engines in its fitment, among them the D1703-M-DI-E4B variant. It is the customer's responsibility to verify compatibility, so confirm your engine and serial number before ordering.

What Is the Cross Reference for HH150-32094?

HH150-32094 is Kubota's oil filter for the 70 mm stroke engine family. In the selection guide it covers ten diesel engines and several generator engines:

  • Diesel engines: Z500, Z600, ZH600, D750, D850, DH850, D950, V1100, VH1100, V1200
  • Spark-ignited generator engines: WG1005 and DF1005
  • GL series generators: GL6500, GL7000 and GL11000

Our engine oil filter replacing Kubota HH150-32094 carries a long machine fitment list, mostly B Series tractors, mowers and small equipment. Because Kubota's guide is engine-based, the reliable check is to confirm your engine is one of the ten above. If it is an 05-series engine such as the D1105, Kubota's guide lists HH160-32093 instead.

What Is the Cross Reference for the Kubota D722 Oil Filter?

Kubota's guide lists HH150-32430 for the D722 and for the rest of the Super Mini family, including the Z482, D782 and D902. That makes it the filter for many small-frame machines. The BX23S, for example, runs a D902, and its manual calls for oil and filter changes every 200 hours.

Which Kubota Engines Use HH160-32093 and HH1C0-32430?

Two more numbers cover the 05 series and Kubota's larger engines. Both follow the same engine-first logic.

  • HH160-32093: D905, D1005, D1105, D1305, V1205, V1305 and V1505. The B2301 (D1005) and B2601 (D1105) fall here. Our replacement for Kubota HH160-32093 shows fitment for D1005, D1105 and V1505 engines.
  • HH1C0-32430: the V3307 and the V3 series (V3300, V3600, V3800). Our replacement for Kubota HH1C0-32430 shows fitment for SVL track loaders including the SVL65-2, SVL75-2, SVL90-2, SVL95-2S and SVL97-2.
  • 1J600-32430: Kubota lists it for the V5009, the only 09-series engine in the guide.

Our catalog carries dozens of Kubota engine oil filter listings, many under older Kubota numbers, so a match by engine series narrows the search fast.

What About Older or Superseded Kubota Numbers?

Kubota part numbers change over time, and the filter on your shelf may carry an older number than the current guide. These are the supersession and replacement statements in our own listings:

What Should Match When You Cross-Reference a Kubota Oil Filter?

A part number match gets you close, and the physical specs confirm it. Our HH1J0-32430 listing shows reference specs for a Super Mini-size filter, a useful example of what to compare:

  • Thread: M20 x 1.5
  • Outer diameter and length: 68 mm (2.68 in) and 65 mm (2.56 in)
  • Gasket: 65 mm outer and 56 mm inner diameter
  • Valves: an anti-drainback valve and a bypass valve set at 12 to 17 psi
  • Type: full-flow, spin-on

Kubota's own description of its filters points at the same areas: the filter media, steel end caps bonded to the media, and a sealing gasket compound made for high-temperature work. Check the thread and gasket first, since those decide whether the filter seals on the engine at all.

How Often Should You Change a Kubota Oil Filter?

It depends on the model, and Kubota's manuals differ more than most owners expect. In each manual below, the oil change and the filter change share one interval.

Model Engine Oil and filter interval
L2501 D1703-M-DI-E4 Every 400 hours, first after 50 hours
BX23S D902 Every 200 hours
B2301 / B2601 D1005-E4 / D1105-E4 Every 200 hours, first after 50 hours

For any other model, the service interval chart in your operator's manual is the authority. Fuel filters run on their own schedule, and our Kubota fuel filter guide covers both fuel filters and the water separator.

What Engine Oil Does Kubota Use?

Kubota's manuals specify engine oil by API service class and by ambient temperature. The L2501 manual's North American table calls for API CF, CF-4, CG-4, CH-4 or CI-4 oil on engines without external EGR running ultra low sulfur fuel. It also states that CJ-4 oil is intended for DPF-type engines and cannot be used on that tractor.

  • Above 77°F: SAE 30, SAE 10W-30 or 15W-40
  • 14°F to 77°F: SAE 20, SAE 10W-30 or 15W-40
  • Below 14°F: SAE 10W-30

Charts vary by model. The BX23S manual asks for API CF or higher and adds SAE 10W below 32°F, so read the lubricants page in your own manual, especially on newer engines fitted with a DPF.

How Do You Replace a Kubota Oil Filter?

The L2501 Operator's Manual gives this procedure for the engine oil and filter. Hot oil can burn, so stop the engine and let it cool enough to handle safely before you start.

  1. Remove the drain plug at the bottom of the engine and drain the oil completely. Warm oil drains more fully than cold oil.
  2. Reinstall the drain plug and remove the old filter.
  3. Put a film of clean engine oil on the rubber seal of the new filter.
  4. Spin the filter on until it contacts the mounting surface, then tighten it by hand an additional 1/2 turn only.
  5. Fill with new oil to the upper notch on the dipstick.
  6. Check that no oil leaks past the seal, then recheck the dipstick and top up, since the manual notes the level normally drops a little after a filter change.

Dispose of the used oil and filter properly. If the filter will not come off or the mounting threads look damaged, consult a certified mechanic before running the engine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What engine oil does Kubota use?

Kubota specifies oil by API class and temperature. The L2501 manual calls for API CF through CI-4 oil, such as 10W-30 or 15W-40 across most temperatures, and says CJ-4 is intended for DPF engines and cannot be used on that tractor.
