The D1305 is positioned as the high torque mechanical 3 cylinder in Kubota's 05 Series, sized between the D1105 and the D1503 in the 05 Series 3 cylinder family. Kubota expanded the stroke of the D1105 base engine to gain 12 percent more displacement (1.261 L vs 1.123 L) while preserving the same physical engine footprint, which lets OEM equipment integrators step up to higher torque without redesigning the engine bay. The mechanical injection D1305-E3B is the most common production variant. The D1305-E4B steps power down to 18.5 kW under EPA Tier 4 Plus and EU Stage V emissions for the most regulated markets. The D1305-E3-BG and D1305-E4-BG generator package variants drop output further to 11.6 kW at 1800 rpm for stationary standby and prime power applications where the engine runs at constant load.
The D1305 powers a long list of Kubota equipment including the smaller B Series compact tractors, the larger BX Series sub compact tractors, several legacy F Series mowers, and the smaller Standard L Series compact tractors. Outside Kubota, the D1305 is widely OEM specified for compact construction equipment, light tower applications where its torque curve is well suited to constant load operation, and for skid steer loaders from manufacturers other than Kubota.
Air intake service is the leading service category on the D1305 because the higher torque output of the engine drives proportionally more air through the intake system, which leads to faster filter loading than smaller 05 Series engines. Outer Air Filter 81528711081 (current revision), 7000011081 (older revision), 4025156400 (alternate sizing), 1552111081, 15401-11080, and 1732511080 collectively cover the D1305 air canister cross references across multiple OEM applications and housing sizes.
Fuel system service uses In Line Fuel Filter 1258143011 (and the 12581-43012 alternate revision), the same primary filter shared across the 05 Series mechanical injection variants. Engine Oil Filter cross references are shared with the D1105 because both engines use the same lube filter housing — the W21ESO1600 family covers both. Engine internal hardware including head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, glow plugs, and oil gauge plugs covers top end refresh work, with rod bearing and main bearing service more frequent on D1305 units past 6,000 hours than the smaller D1105 in similar duty cycles.
