John Deere hydraulic filters are specified by the hydraulic circuit design, not by machine model directly. The same filter can fit dozens of machines that share a hydraulic platform. The Spin-On Hydraulic Filter AT38431 is a cross-reference that fits many John Deere tractor and construction machines built around a common circuit. John Deere recommends hydraulic oil and filter service at 500 to 1,000 operating hours depending on the machine and duty cycle. Heavy cyclic work in demolition or forestry shortens these intervals. Always follow the service interval specified in your operator manual, and replace the filter any time the hydraulic oil is changed or when a system component has been rebuilt.

Cartridge filters generate less waste and allow for higher flow rates but require more care during service to avoid contaminating the canister.
