HVAC Part Fitment and Compatibility

Cab climate parts are specific to the cab rather than to the machine model, because an enclosed heated cab and an enclosed air conditioned cab use different components behind the same trim panel. One symptom is worth knowing before you order anything. If the fan runs on its highest speed and nothing else, the fault is almost always the blower resistor rather than the blower motor. The resistor drops voltage to produce the lower speeds and the top speed bypasses it entirely, so the one speed that still works is the only one that does not depend on it.

Types of Replacement HVAC Parts

Blower motors and assemblies move the air. A blower that squeals, hums, or draws more current than it used to is on its way out, and a plugged cab filter shortens its life by making it work against a restriction every hour it runs.

Controls cover resistors, potentiometers, and switches, and they fail far more often than the motors they control. Air conditioning components cover evaporator thermostats, which cycle the compressor to stop the evaporator icing over, along with compressor belts and mounting brackets. Air distribution covers vents, louvers, and ducting, which are usually replaced for breakage rather than wear.

Before concluding that an air conditioning system is low on refrigerant, check the cab filter and the condenser face. Restricted airflow produces weak, barely cool output that imitates a refrigerant problem closely enough to send people down the wrong path.
