Fuses match by amperage and by physical format, and both matter: a mini blade fuse and a standard blade fuse of the same rating will not fit each other's socket. Fit the amperage the machine specifies and nothing higher. A fuse protects the wiring, not the component on the end of it, and its rating is set by what the wire in that circuit can carry safely. Fitting a larger fuse to stop it blowing removes that protection and leaves the wire itself as the weakest point in the circuit, which is a far more serious failure than the one being avoided.
Blade and mini fuses protect individual circuits and are the most commonly replaced electrical part on any machine. Higher-rated fuses protect main feeds and charging circuits.
Fuse blocks and covers hold and protect the fuses themselves. A cracked or missing cover lets moisture and dust into the block, and corrosion there produces intermittent faults across several circuits at once, which is far harder to diagnose than a single blown fuse.
Relays let a low-current switch control a high-current circuit, which is how a small dash switch runs lights, a blower, or a starter circuit. A relay that clicks but produces no output has usually failed at its internal contacts rather than its coil.
Treat a fuse that blows repeatedly as information rather than a defective part. It is reporting a fault in the circuit it protects, and the fault is usually a chafed wire somewhere the harness moves or passes through metal.
