Alternator Fitment and Compatibility

Alternators match to the engine, not the machine badge, which is why one Kubota alternator can fit a Kubota tractor and a Bobcat loader running the same engine block. Common units replace Kubota OEM numbers 1G740-64010, 1C010-64013, and 1C010-64012, covering common Kubota diesel families used across compact tractors, excavators, and skid steers.

Match by the OEM number on your old unit's tag when possible. When the tag is gone, the engine model plus the mounting style, pulley type, and plug configuration identify the correct unit. Output rating matters too, since a machine with added electrical load needs the amperage its engine family was specified for.

Types of Replacement Alternators

Internally regulated alternators are the standard on modern equipment and connect through a simple plug and battery lead. Pulley style varies between v-belt and ribbed drive, and swapping a pulley between units is sometimes possible but easier avoided by matching the OEM number. Mounting ear spacing and adjustment arm position are the physical checkpoints before ordering.

A dying alternator usually announces itself through a battery warning light, dim work lights at idle, or a machine that needs boosting after sitting overnight. Testing charging voltage at the battery takes a minute and separates a failing alternator from a failing battery before parts money gets spent.
