Air Filter Fitment and Compatibility

Air filters match to the air cleaner housing on your engine, so the OEM number on the old element is the reliable identifier. Common elements fit Bobcat loaders, including the outer air filter that replaces OEM 6598492, its inner safety element that replaces OEM 6598362, and the outer filter that replaces OEM 6666375 on larger frames. Coverage spans deep into John Deere, Allis-Chalmers, International, and New Holland tractor lines.

Outer and inner elements are a matched pair in most housings. The outer element does the filtering and takes the service interval, while the inner safety element guards the intake during outer element changes. Product pages list both the housing applications and the paired element where one exists.

Types of Replacement Air Filters

Conventional round elements seal against the housing ends and remain standard on older tractors and equipment. Radial seal elements grip the housing outlet tube directly, seat without wing nuts, and dominate modern designs. Inner safety elements sit inside the outer filter as the last line of defense and are replaced less frequently, typically every third outer element change.

Black smoke under load, power loss, and a triggered restriction indicator are the working signs of a loaded air filter. Dusty conditions shorten intervals dramatically, and tapping an element clean shortens its life rather than extending it, since the paper media tears at the pleats.
