Undercarriage Fitment and Compatibility

Undercarriage components are machine-series specific and rarely interchange between machines of similar size, because roller diameter, flange profile, and pin spacing are all dictated by the track chain they run in rather than by the weight of the machine. Common replacements include the front idler replacing Kubota HV050-22900, the track roller replacing Case PX64D00009F1, the upper roller assembly replacing John Deere 4718355, the sprocket replacing Komatsu 22L-27-21110, the track adjuster grease valve replacing Komatsu 07959-20001, and the side guide and conveyor rollers replacing Wirtgen 54954, 190448, and 2091189.

Track tension is the cheapest control anyone has over undercarriage cost. Run too tight and every component in the loop wears faster, including the ones that were fine. Run too loose and the chain rides up the sprocket teeth and can come off under a turn. Setting it to the machine's specification, and rechecking it as material packs in, does more for undercarriage life than any single part on this page.

Types of Replacement Undercarriage Parts

Track rollers carry the weight of the machine along the bottom run, and upper or carrier rollers support the top run between the idler and the sprocket. Both are oil-filled and sealed for life, so any weeping around a roller end means the seal has gone and the bearing is running on borrowed time.

Idlers and adjusters set and hold the track path. The adjuster is a grease-filled cylinder, and its grease valve is the service point, which is why a small valve appears on a page otherwise made of heavy components. Sprockets wear together with the chain they drive, so a new sprocket in a stretched chain, or a new chain on a hooked sprocket, wears out quickly.

Inspect the whole loop before ordering one part. Undercarriage wears as a system, and replacing the single worst component in a worn set usually just moves the problem along.
