The KX101 is the 3.5 ton class entry in Kubota's original K Series mini excavator family, produced through the mid 1990s as the mid-size machine between the KX91 and KX121. The KX101 uses the V1505 era 4-cylinder mechanical injection diesel engine and direct-drive hydraulic main pump, the same engine family that powers the KX121-2 and KX151 / KX161-2 siblings.
