Backup Alarm and Horn Fitment

Alarms and horns match by voltage, mounting orientation, and connector, and the OEM number carries all three. Common replacements include the horn replacing OEM 7221530, the horizontal mounted horn alarm replacing OEM 6691276, the alarm horn replacing OEM 7164107, the vertical mounted horn replacing OEM 6665105, and the alarm kit for Toolcats replacing OEM 7439791.

Mounting orientation is worth reading twice. Horizontal and vertical units are built for their intended position so that water drains rather than collects, and fitting one in the wrong orientation shortens its life considerably.

Types of Replacement Alarms and Horns

Backup alarms sound automatically in reverse and are a jobsite compliance item on most sites, not an accessory. Horns are operator-triggered warning devices. Alarm kits bundle the alarm with its wiring and mounting hardware, and manual-control kits suit machines where the alarm is switched rather than triggered by the transmission.

A silent backup alarm can stop a machine from working on a regulated site, which makes this one of the cheapest parts on the machine with the highest ratio of consequence to cost. Testing is immediate: select reverse and listen.
