Bobcat T770 compact track loader lifting a full bucket of gravel over a dump truck bed with its vertical lift arms

The Bobcat T770 is a 92 hp, vertical-lift compact track loader rated at 3,475 lbs operating capacity, with a 9,929 lb tipping load and a 10,515 lb operating weight. It measures 114.3 inches long without an attachment, 78 inches wide and 81.3 inches tall, and raises its bucket hinge pin to 131.4 inches.

The Essentials

  • Lift capacity: 3,475 lbs rated operating capacity (ISO) on the solid-mounted undercarriage, 4,960 lbs at 50% of tip.
  • Power: 92 hp turbocharged diesel. Current Tier 4 machines use a Bobcat engine with no diesel particulate filter.
  • Size: 114.3 in long without attachment, 141.6 in with a standard bucket, 78 in wide over the tracks.
  • Lift path: vertical, with about 11 feet of lift. Bobcat does not list a radial-lift T770.
  • Hydraulics: 23 gpm standard flow, 36.6 gpm high flow option, 3,500 psi at the quick couplers.
  • Maintenance: service intervals live in our Bobcat T770 parts and maintenance guide.

What Are the Bobcat T770's Key Specs?

Bobcat still sells this machine as the Classic T770, part of its M-Series loader line. The headline numbers below come from Bobcat's current T770 spec page, and the same figures appear on prints of that page going back to 2021.

Specification Bobcat T770
Horsepower 92 hp, turbocharged diesel, liquid cooled
Emissions EPA Tier 4
Rated operating capacity (ISO) 3,475 lbs
Operating capacity at 50% of tip 4,960 lbs
Tipping load 9,929 lbs
Operating weight 10,515 lbs
Lift path Vertical
Auxiliary flow, standard / high flow 23 gpm / 36.6 gpm
System relief at quick couplers 3,500 psi
Travel speed 6.6 mph, or 10.7 mph with two-speed
Ground pressure (rubber tracks) 4.2 psi

Several of these numbers depend on the undercarriage and the build, so the sections below explain which T770 each figure applies to.

How Much Can a Bobcat T770 Lift?

Bobcat rates the T770 at 3,475 lbs rated operating capacity, which is 35% of its 9,929 lb tipping load. Bobcat also lists 4,960 lbs as the operating capacity at 50% of tip, so when you compare loaders, make sure both ratings use the same basis.

The undercarriage changes the rating. Bobcat's 2015 T770 Operation & Maintenance Manual (written for Tier 3 units, serial numbers A3P811001 to A3P815999) lists:

Undercarriage Rated operating capacity Tipping load
Solid-mounted, rubber tracks 3,475 lbs 9,929 lbs
Roller suspension, rubber tracks 3,100 lbs 8,857 lbs
Steel tracks (roller suspension) 3,000 lbs 8,571 lbs
  • Counterweights: the same manual lists frame-mounted kits of 200, 300 and 400 lbs. With the 400 lb kit, a solid-mounted T770 is rated at 3,725 lbs.
  • Breakout force (solid-mounted): 5,659 lbs lift and 6,346 lbs tilt, with 6,715 lbs of push force.
  • Your machine's number: Bobcat notes the ROC is shown on a decal in the operator cab. That decal is the figure to work to.

The manual also says to remove counterweights to increase the downward force of the attachment when digging with a bucket or running a breaker, scraper or landplane.

How Much Does a Bobcat T770 Weigh?

Bobcat lists the T770's operating weight at 10,515 lbs. Bobcat's page does not say what that figure includes, so treat it as a planning number and weigh the machine as equipped if you are close to a trailer or bridge limit.

  • Tier 3 manual, solid-mounted: 10,327 lbs
  • Tier 3 manual, roller suspension: 10,887 lbs
  • Tier 3 manual, steel tracks: 11,032 lbs

On the standard 17.7 inch rubber tracks, with 63.7 inches of track on the ground, Bobcat quotes 4.2 psi ground pressure. The optional 12.6 inch narrow track raises it to 5.9 psi on a solid-mounted machine.

What Engine Does the Bobcat T770 Have?

Bobcat rates the T770 at 92 hp, but the engine behind that number depends on when and where the machine was built. This matters when you order engine filters, so confirm yours before buying parts.

T770 build Engine What the source says
Tier 4, from late 2015 Bobcat 3.4-liter diesel Common-rail injection, cooled EGR, diesel oxidation catalyst and SCR. No DPF.
Tier 3 (2015 manual, S/N A3P811001 to A3P815999) Kubota V3800-DI-TE3 4 cylinders, 230 cubic inches (3,769 cc), turbocharged

The Tier 3 manual breaks the rating down: 88.0 hp net (SAE J1349), 90.6 hp gross (ISO 14396) and 92.0 hp gross (SAE J1995), all at 2,400 rpm, with 228.8 ft-lb of net torque at 1,600 rpm. Bobcat's current page describes the Tier 4 engine as a 92 hp Bobcat engine that "meets Tier 4 standards without a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)."

The engine on earlier North American T770s, before the 2015 change, is not covered in the Bobcat documents we reviewed. Your engine's serial plate settles it, or send us your loader's serial number and we will check.

Does the Bobcat T770 Use DEF?

Tier 4 T770s with the Bobcat 3.4-liter engine do. In October 2015 Bobcat announced that its 700- and 800-frame loaders, including the T770, use a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, and that "the system requires diesel exhaust fluid, also known as DEF."

  • Where it goes: a blue, clearly labeled DEF fill cap on the left side of the loader, separate from the diesel cap.
  • How you know the level: Bobcat added a DEF level indicator so operators can see how much DEF is in the tank.
  • Tier 3 units: the 2015 Tier 3 manual lists no DEF tank among its capacities.

SCR systems filter the DEF before it is dosed. Our DEF filter kit, replacement for Bobcat 7311062, lists fitment for the T750, T770 and T870 track loaders and the S750, S770 and S850 skid steers. Never put DEF in the fuel tank or diesel in the DEF tank.

What Are the Bobcat T770's Dimensions?

Bobcat's spec page and the dimension drawing in the 2015 manual agree on the main measurements. The manual measures with an 80 inch heavy-duty construction bucket, and adds the dump measurements the web page leaves out.

Bobcat T770 compact track loader dimension drawing showing 114.3 in length without attachment, 81.3 in height, 131.4 in hinge pin height and 78 in width
Dimension Bobcat spec page 2015 manual drawing
Length without attachment 114.3 in 114.3 in
Length with standard bucket 141.6 in 141.6 in
Width over tracks / with bucket 78 in / 80 in 78 in / 80 in
Height to top of cab 81.3 in 81.3 in
Height to bucket hinge pin 131.4 in 132 in
Reach at maximum height 35.2 in 33.6 in (dump reach)
Dump height Not listed 104.3 in
Overall height, bucket raised Not listed 166.6 in
Ground clearance Not listed 8.1 in
Track on ground / track width 63.7 in / 17.7 in 63.7 in / 17.7 in
Turning radius 88 in 88 in

The small differences in hinge pin height and reach most likely reflect different builds and buckets. For truck loading, the 104.3 in dump height and the 42 degree dump angle at full height are the numbers to check against your truck's side boards. Some spec summaries online list the length as 113.3 inches, but every Bobcat document we checked says 114.3.

Is the Bobcat T770 Vertical Lift or Radial Lift?

Vertical lift. Bobcat describes the T770 as having "11 feet of vertical lift" for loading trucks, grinders and hoppers, and its spec listings give the lift arm path as vertical. We found no Bobcat document showing a radial-lift version.

  • What vertical lift gives you: the hinge pin rises nearly straight up, so the bucket keeps its reach high in the stroke. That helps when dumping into a high-sided truck or placing pallets.
  • How fast it cycles: the Tier 3 manual times a full lift at 4.03 seconds, lowering at 2.86 seconds, bucket dump at 2.34 seconds and rollback at 2.05 seconds.
  • The trade-off: radial-lift machines usually give more reach at mid height, and Bobcat builds both designs across its lineup.

If you are matching attachments, the hinge pin height and the high-flow rating matter more than the lift path itself.

What Are the T770's Hydraulic, Travel Speed and Fuel Specs?

The T770's auxiliary circuit delivers 23 gpm standard, and the optional high-flow system raises that to 36.6 gpm for cold planers and other high-flow attachments. Bobcat's spec page lists 3,500 psi system relief at the quick couplers. The Tier 3 manual gives a range of 3,450 to 3,550 psi and 36.5 gpm high flow.

  • Travel speed: 6.6 mph single speed. The two-speed option runs 6.1 mph in low range and 10.7 mph in high range.
  • Drive: fully hydrostatic, with tandem piston pumps driving two hydrostatic drive motors.
  • Fuel tank: Bobcat's current spec page lists 43.8 gallons. The 2015 manual for Tier 3 units lists 27.2 gallons.

Because those fuel figures disagree, check the capacities table in your own machine's manual before planning around either one. Engine oil, coolant and hydraulic capacities for the T770 and other models are in our Bobcat fluid capacities guide.

How Does the T770 Compare With the T650 and T870?

The T770 sits between the T650 and the T870 in Bobcat's track loader range. Moving up a model mostly buys you power, lift height and length.

Size comparison drawn to scale of the Bobcat T650, T770 and T870 compact track loaders with hinge pin height and horsepower for each
Model Horsepower Hinge pin height Length without attachment
Bobcat T650 74 hp 124 in 108.4 in
Bobcat T770 92 hp 131.4 in 114.3 in
Bobcat T870 100 hp 144 in 119.3 in

The R-Series T76 is a different machine, with a 74 hp engine at its 2020 launch, so its specs do not carry over to the T770. Bobcat continues to sell the T770 alongside the R-Series.
